Despite how it may seem at first glance this item is worth less than both the zee-ztory and memory of distant shores. Tale of Terror is obtainable more or less at its "sell price" (it has no direct sell price, but being able to buy supplies with it suggest a price of around 10 echo) through Stygian Ivory trade. And, probably more importantly, it has less uses in general. The other two however are not. Meaning that to obtain extras of the other items, the player has to go out of their way and pay/forgo more than their sale price, but with the tale of terror that is not the case. As such when choosing between obtaining one of the 3 mentioned items Tale of terror is generally the least preferable option and is somewhat wasteful.

- In Your Lodgings, you need 77 x Tale of Terror!! to Write the Zong of the Zee.
- In the A Glittering Eye event, you need 1 x Tale of Terror!! to Turn the situation around.
- In Empire of Hands at The Lost Treasure Hunter, you can trade 10 x Tale of Terror!! and
1 x Cask of Mushroom Wine for 
10 x Zee-ztory.
