Like Memory of Distant Shores this item is arguably worth more than it can be typically exchanged for. You can't just buy them in bulk for those prices, and with the vast number of uses for them you are quite likely to run out of them. Of course, there's also vast number of opportunities to gain them, and that's where the catch is - to gain more of them you'd typically have to forgo getting something more valuable than their sell price.
